FALL Fashion style Wardrobe Planning

Autumn Fashions – Cool Clothes for Cool Weather

As much as I hate saying goodbye to summer, the arrival of new autumn fashions helps to lessen the pain.  Here is a wee roundup of fall styles to shop for or thrift to freshen up your closet.

Autumn Fashions

Plaid

A perennial favourite, choose to wear this traditional print in large or small doses. Try incorporating plaid into your wardrobe by pairing a cozy flannel top or scarf with jeans. What about a more polished look with a plaid statement shoe and a neutral coloured outfit? Be bold with a high contrast version like this buffalo plaid jacket or be more subtle with a tone on tone pattern like these trousers.

Colours

Nothing says fall like rich earthy colours and now is a great time to experiment with neutrals beyond black. Think camel, grey, and burgundy. These autumn fashions play well together and are easy to incorporate with what you already have hanging in your closet. If you find the thought of wearing colour intimidating, neutrals are a less daunting way to branch out.

Ankle Boots

I’m thrilled the ankle boot trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon. They are incredibly versatile and easy to pair with pants as well as skirts and dresses. I enjoy wearing ankle boots far more than shoes during the colder months. This season we see western influenced styles, retro Chelsea boot styles, eighties-inspired pointy-toes, block heels, and everything in between. If you have difficulty finding a knee-high boot to fit your calves, (many women do), ankle boots are a stylish alternative.  Available in many heel heights, there is a style to suit every taste and need for comfort. As always, use your footwear, as well as belts, bags, and scarves, to add colour, texture, and pattern to your outfits.

I LOVE fall fashion! This roundup is amazing – I had no idea plaid could be so fashionable. I’m also surprised by how much I loved the Aritzia items. I’ve never thought to shop there. Also, I need new ankle boots and will be shopping at Love Those Shoes in Cloverdale. You should check it out!
