Bold Blazer – One Item, Two Stylists is Back!

A collage of two stylists ' outfits with one item, and another outfit.

The Bold Blazer

The bold blazer may seem like a challenge to incorporate into your wardrobe, but it can be a cinch to wear and more versatile than you expect. A piece of clothing with a classic cut and design can easily hold its own in your closet when injected with a unique pattern or vivid colours. The clean lines and traditional shape allow for the print and colours to add to your outfit, instead of looking wack-a-doo. This standout item has the advantage of being the hero piece of your ensemble. It can readily inject personality into your chosen outfit. Because of this, you can pair it with the most simple, straight-forward basics. An uncomplicated frock, for example, or a T-shirt and jeans. Additionally, a bold blazer is versatile in that it can effortlessly be dressed up for fancy, or dressed down for a casual look with some personality.

I recently bought myself a statement blazer. It has turned out to be a workhorse in my closet. The blazer becomes the focal point of the outfit when worn with a neutral blouse and pants.

To add an extra pop of colour to this particular ensemble, I mixed in a red clutch. Because I have a weakness for pattern mixing and leopard print though, I slipped in this fabulous watch. (Is it too early to start making my Christmas list?)

I kept the shoes simple, but they are far from boring.

Mara’s Bold Blazer Styling

A green jacket, dress and purse are all arranged in a fashion style.

I love how a bold blazer can be worn as your “warmth piece” for a dress-up evening. Why bother with a shawl, cardigan or wrap when you can inject some serious personality and panache to your outfit with a statement blazer?

Coordinate the colour of your fancy-wear with elements of the blazer. The colours don’t have to match; they only have to “go with”. Personally, I love how the texture of the nail polish goes with the texture of the blazer. As well, I enjoy how the shape of the necklace repeats in the graphic on the clutch.

I would like to own this whole outfit, I think. And Dee’s styled pieces, too! One can only dream…

Loving this post ladies! I’m really intrigued by the idea of wearing a blazer over a dress actually, kind of mixing the masculine/feminine and I love that!
