Entrepreneur Personal Style Style Crush Vancouver

Style Crush – Linda Sin, Founder of Middle Sister Boutique

Last week, I had the pleasure of drinking tea with our first-ever-featured Style Crush, Linda Sin. I met Linda back in April when Mara, Linda and I attended the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs E-Series. Her unique sense of style caught my eye immediately, and I instantly developed a style crush on her. In a city often ridiculed for its casual dress code and yoga-pants-with-everything attitude, Linda is a breath of fresh air. Check out our fashion-forward friend, and I think you’ll agree; this entrepreneur has got it goin’ on!

Personality

Describe your personality in 3 words:

Energetic, fake-extravert and fearless, (although my younger brother would probably say, “bossy”. Haha!)

Personal Style

How would you describe your style and how did you choose it?

I’d say my style is eclectic – a mix of whimsical, ultra modern, street and trendy – it depends on the day, the weather and my mood. I think style evolves with age, new trends and travel (seeing what’s fashionable in other parts of the world). I love exploring fashion and trying new things and if I like how it looks and feels then I’ll add it to my wardrobe!

What kinds of clothes make you feel great?

Colourful and structured dresses.

What’s that one thing you can’t get enough of?

I used to have a weakness for shoes, but now that I own a clothing shop, it’s dresses.

What is your favourite thing to wear on weekends?

Pajamas.

What is your favourite thing to wear for date night?

Dresses. Always dresses. I didn’t even own pants, other than jeans, until I opened the shop two years ago.

Who is your celebrity style crush?

Joan Watson, Lucy Lu’s character on the TV show Elementary. Sometimes I even go onto the website joansfashionshow to find the exact pieces she wore.

What’s one thing you never leave the house without wearing?

My rings or bracelets.

Hobbies, Passions and Quirks

Do you have any secret talents?

I don’t know if you would call it a talent, but I have a heightened sense of smell. It’s a blessing and a curse.

What are you currently reading?

I am reading a book on Transcendental Meditation (TM). I’m also in the middle of Elaine Lui’s (from the TV show The Social) book, Listen to the Squawking Chicken.

Do you have a passion project?

Growing my business and helping women to feel great is my passion project. I love creating community too. Several of my customers have become some of my closest friends. One even accompanies me on buying trips.

Where is your favourite place to go in Vancouver?

Porto Cafe on Cambie St. near Olympic Village. They make delicious coffee from Pallet Coffee Roasters, and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere there.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

Don’t let fear of failure stop you from trying. When I was contemplating opening my boutique, my older sister said, “What’s the worst that can happen? If it doesn’t work, you’ll find something else.”

What is your life motto? Jump right in!

Well said, Sister. Well said.
