Fashion Fashion Tips One Item Two Stylists Skirts

Long Pleated Skirt – One Item, Two Stylists

Two stylists, one item and a few items.

Though it started out as a fringe trend, a long pleated skirt has become more mainstream.  It has grown in popularity because it can be worn multiple ways and take you in several style directions. This functional piece would be a marvellous addition to any closet because it’s a cinch to dress up or down and pairs well with a slouchy or fitted top, heels, flats or even sneakers.

Long Pleated Skirt

Dee’s Styling:

A burgundy skirt, black top and jacket.I used to think of a pleated skirt as antiquated, but with this longer length, the pleats feel fresh. I enjoy mixing it with modern pieces to make the overall look current.

This black blouse has vintage appeal due to the embellished neckline, but the cropped length makes it on point and perfect for pairing with a high waisted skirt. Embroidered anything is hot right now. These booties add a touch of playfulness, and the marble clutch brings something unexpected to the outfit.

As we mentioned in a previous post, velvet is having a moment, and this velvet biker jacket blends two trends I am crazy about.

Mara’s Styling:

A leopard print top, maroon skirt and black boots. To pair with this beautiful burgundy skirt, I chose pieces with a chic rocker feel. What better than leopard print to go with a classic Rolling Stones mouth logo? This splashy leopard print blazer is as much of a show-stopper as the knife pleated skirt, making it the perfect pairing for anything festive. Tuck in the T-shirt and push up the sleeves on the blazer to keep from losing your waist.

Chunky-heeled booties and an eye-catching handbag, both in black, work to ground the look. Tough-girl earrings and sparkly nail polish give the whole ensemble a party-ready feel.
