Believe it or not, there are actually people out there that consider Valentine’s Day a “Hallmark Holiday”.  These killjoys see it purely as an annual campaign devised by retailers to increase sales during the post-Christmas slump.  At a time when there is an abundance of anger, hate and fear in the world, I feel strongly that regardless of how you perceive the holiday, celebrating love in all it forms, is welcome and very much-needed. Can I help that I am in love with love?
Valentine’s Day Inspiration
Relationships can be hard work and romance needs to be nurtured all year-long, but if there was ever a day to pull out the stops, Valentine’s Day is IT. This week, I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite, (mostly local) bloggers and blogs to help you get in the mood for the big day.
Eschelle, is an incredibly busy mom and entrepreneur who recommends THIS lovely way to connect with your partner amidst the chaos that is life.
It can be difficult to feel romantic when your go-to outfit includes yoga pants. Sexy is as sexy does! Here are 13 simple yet stylish and classy ways to bring sexy back.
Part of keeping the romance alive is continuing to have adventures together. How about playing an <ahem> adult game? I have no doubt my hubby and I would enjoy this couples competition.
For those of you who can’t find a babysitter prefer to have a romantic night in, consider shaking (or stirring) one of these Valentine cocktails. This would also make for a fun Girls’ Night In with other single gal pals.
Not For Lovers Only
Let’s Sprinkle Love and Kindness Like it’s Confetti!
Why should romantic love be the only cause for celebration? Now is the time to shower your friends and family with love as well. Some of my mommy blogger friends know how it’s done.
Tamara at Discovering Parenthood shows you how to make this impressive DIY heart-shaped cake using cake pans you likely already own.
Over at Our Happy Place, Kat’s gorgeous Valentine party ideas will have you heading to your local craft store, pronto.
Janette at Ava to Zoe has an adorable Valentine project you can do with your littles.
Codi at Creative Wife and Joyful Worker shows you how to make these yummy marshmallow & white chocolate sprinkle strawberry hearts.
Instead of buying premade cards, Shannon at Adventurous Mama and her kids make their own thoughtful handmade cards.
Life is short. Don’t miss the chance to make some memories. However you mark the day, I hope you take the time to make yourself and the people you love feel special.
